Vijay has accused the DMK government of negligence, claiming that farmers' diligent efforts have been rendered futile due to inadequate action.

Chennai:

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has publicly challenged Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK government regarding their failure to protect farmers whose grain harvests suffered damage during recent rainfall events.

In his criticism, Vijay presented six pointed questions to the DMK administration concerning the agricultural community's hardships, asserting that government officials failed to implement timely protective measures for farmers' produce.

"What explains the destruction of delta farmers' livelihoods through delays in procuring paddy that represents months of their dedicated labor?" Vijay demanded.

The founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) further pressed the state administration regarding their preventative strategies, specifically questioning what concrete actions were taken to shield harvested grains from precipitation damage.

Vijay attributed the situation to DMK's carelessness, stating that their inaction had nullified farmers' hard work as rainfall caused their grain supplies to become waterlogged and begin sprouting.

"Public opposition to this government is intensifying, and citizens will certainly remove DMK from power," Vijay declared.

He additionally urged the state authorities to implement genuine preventative measures during the monsoon period rather than focusing on publicity-oriented activities.

Previously, DMK representatives had maintained that the government consistently supports farmers, highlighting that 10.40 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been successfully procured.

DMK spokesperson Saravanan responded to the TVK leader's criticism by remarking, "Making political statements from an air-conditioned room is simple."
