Lucknow:
Amitabh Yash, Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order in UP, revealed that the Goldy Brar gang's shooting outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani's ancestral home in Bareilly was intended to create fear among the state's residents.
According to ADG Yash, the incident took place on September 12 around 3:45 am when two individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple shots outside the actress's family home in Civil Lines, Bareilly. On Wednesday, both suspects were killed in an encounter during a joint operation conducted by Delhi Police and UP STF in Ghaziabad.
"Through investigation, we identified Ravindra and Arun as the two shooters, along with two additional individuals hired for reconnaissance. The shooters were working for the Goldy Brar gang, which claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. The gang was tracked down and the two shooters were neutralized in an encounter," ADG Yash told ANI.
Ravindra alias Kullu and Arun, linked to notorious gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, sustained injuries during the encounter near Tronica City in Ghaziabad and later died.
He further stated, "The suspects were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, and we're gathering information about all gang members to take comprehensive action against the entire organization." The bodies were transported to Ghaziabad's postmortem facility for further examination.
The ADG also informed that one constable from Haryana police was shot in the chest during the encounter.
"A Haryana police constable was shot in the chest during the operation. Police recovered two sophisticated pistols and a significant quantity of 9 mm ammunition," he said.
"The gang's objective is to spread fear among Uttar Pradesh residents. However, after this operation, I hope they will reconsider challenging the Uttar Pradesh government's zero-tolerance policy. We will also investigate the weapons' source to address that supply chain," he added.
The Uttar Pradesh government has promised strict measures against those attempting to intimidate the public.
"The UP Chief Minister explicitly instructed immediate legal action against those spreading fear among people and emphasized a zero-tolerance crime policy. Information was gathered from various sources, CCTV footage was collected from multiple routes, and technical details were analyzed," he explained.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had previously assured Disha Patani's father, Jagdish Patani, of strict action against the perpetrators and appropriate security arrangements.
