Delhi Acid Attack Investigation Reveals Inconsistencies in Survivor's Account as Police Question Circumstances

The college student has sustained minor injuries and is expected to be released from the hospital shortly.

Investigators have raised questions about the alleged acid attack on a college student in northwest Delhi, describing the circumstances as "suspicious" due to lack of concrete evidence supporting the incident.

Delhi Police sources reveal that the 20-year-old survivor reportedly exited an e-rickshaw approximately 200 meters from her college entrance, where the alleged attack occurred. Authorities are currently investigating why she disembarked at this distance from the college gates. Police have not discovered any acid traces on nearby walls at the purported crime location. The investigation remains ongoing.

Hospital officials have confirmed that the second-year student experienced minor acid burns and will soon be discharged.

In her complaint, the woman identified her attacker as a stalker accompanied by two associates. She stated the three men intercepted her near Lakshmibai College in Ashok Vihar yesterday. The primary suspects were named as Ishan and Arman. Following a confrontation, one of them allegedly threw acid at her. The survivor raised her hands defensively to shield her face, resulting in burns on both hands. According to her account, Ishan brought the acid while Arman threw the chemical at her.

All three accused individuals remain at large, with police actively searching for them.

The survivor's brother informed media that his sister suffered multiple acid burns. "I recognize one of the attackers who lives near our residence. He had been stalking my sister, and she confronted him last month. We seek justice and demand the accused be imprisoned."

In a significant development, the wife of the alleged stalker has filed a counter-complaint against the survivor's father. She claims that while previously employed by him, he coerced her into a relationship and subsequently blackmailed her using private videos.

Police have confirmed they are simultaneously investigating both the acid attack case and the sexual assault allegations made by the primary suspect's wife.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has acknowledged the alleged acid attack and written to Delhi Police demanding the arrest of the accused, proper medical treatment, and compensation for the survivor. "The Commission reiterates that acid attacks represent one of the most brutal crimes against women and must be addressed with zero tolerance and exemplary punishment," the panel stated.
