Noida Airport To Be Inaugurated On October 30, Flights 45 Days Later
Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu has announced that Noida's international airport, commonly referred to as Jewar airport, will officially open on October 30.
Following the inauguration ceremony, flight operations to 10 major metropolitan cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata, will begin within 45 days. The minister confirmed that discussions have already taken place with carriers such as IndiGo and Air India Express regarding the commencement of flight services.
The new airport will feature comprehensive connectivity options including six road connections and a combined rapid rail-cum-metro system, plus pod taxis. Upon becoming operational, the facility will use the code 'DXN'.
A significant milestone was reached on December 9 when runway trials were successfully conducted with the landing of a commercial aircraft.
In preparation for operations, airport authorities issued guidelines in July for builders, local authorities, and others to adhere to height restrictions within a 20 km radius around the airport.
Additionally, Mr. Naidu revealed plans to expand Ghaziabad's Hindon airport, with a request submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government for nine acres of land. The expansion will primarily focus on increasing parking capacity.
The minister also shared that free Wi-Fi services will be implemented at all airports throughout India within the next two months, and libraries will soon be established at airports to enhance passenger convenience.
