New Delhi/Behrampur:

The father of a 24-year-old NEET-UG aspirant from Odisha who was discovered dead in his Kota hostel room has firmly stated that his son would never commit suicide.

Roshan Kumar Patra, 24, was found deceased in his hostel accommodation in Kota's Rajiv Gandhi Nagar on Saturday.

Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

In an emotional conversation with NDTV, Patra's father Radhashyam recounted, "My son was in good spirits when we last communicated with him. We spoke for approximately 40 minutes through both audio and video calls the previous night."

Radhashyam expressed absolute certainty that his son would not take his own life, adding, "My son was an academic high-achiever as well."

Patra, who hailed from Odisha's Ganjam district, had been residing in the Kota hostel alongside his cousin and friends while preparing for medical entrance examinations.

According to police reports, Patra and his friends had studied until late Friday night. When Patra didn't open his door Saturday morning, his roommates assumed he was still sleeping.

After he failed to appear for lunch, his friends knocked repeatedly on his door. Receiving no response, they alerted the hostel warden.

The warden accessed the room using a spare key and discovered Patra lying face down on his bed. The young man was immediately rushed to a hospital where medical professionals pronounced him dead.

In a disturbing detail shared with NDTV, Radhashyam mentioned that according to Patra's cousin, when they entered the room, the victim's body was covered in blood and he was unclothed.
