A 24-year-old NEET aspirant from Odisha was discovered deceased in his hostel accommodation in Rajasthan's Kota on Saturday, according to police reports.
The student has been identified as Roshan Kumar Patro from Abhayapur in Ganjam district, Odisha. He had been pursuing NEET exam preparation at a coaching institute in Kota and was residing in a hostel located in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.
According to Circle Inspector Ramlaxman of Jawahar Nagar police station, the student was found under suspicious circumstances around midday on Saturday. Roshan was discovered lying on his bed with vomit around his mouth.
Emergency services transported him immediately to a hospital, where medical staff pronounced him deceased after examination.
Forensic investigators visited the scene where the body was discovered and collected evidence necessary for the ongoing investigation.
Authorities stated that the cause of death remains undetermined. The body has been placed in the mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination, which will be conducted after the arrival of Roshan's family members, who have been informed of his passing.
Police reports indicate that Roshan had come to Kota in 2025 and was staying in room 407 on the fourth floor of the hostel, while his cousin occupied another room on the fifth floor of the same building.
When Roshan failed to appear for lunch at noon, his concerned cousin went to check on him. After receiving no response to multiple calls and knocks, the cousin alerted the warden, who unlocked the room using a spare key. They then discovered Roshan lying unresponsive on the bed.
"The exact cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report and further investigation into the matter," the Circle Inspector stated.
