Tragic SUV Accident in Agra Claims Five Lives: Driver Arrested Following Local Outrage

Enraged locals extracted the driver from his vehicle and physically assaulted him following the tragic incident.

A devastating accident in Agra, Uttar Pradesh claimed five lives and left at least three others injured when an out-of-control SUV plowed into pedestrians on Friday evening. The fatal collision took place in the vicinity of Nagla Budhi area.

According to official reports, the Tata Nexon initially collided with a motorcycle before hitting a road divider, subsequently veering off course and crashing into a group of bystanders on the roadside. The driver, who had completely lost control of the vehicle, ultimately crashed into a wall. The collision was so violent that it left the SUV severely damaged and distorted.

Images from the scene revealed the vehicle's windows completely shattered, with the headlights and other components thoroughly destroyed in the impact.

Police have identified the deceased as Babli (33), Bhanu Pratap (25), Kamal (23), Krishna (20), and Bantesh (21). The injured individuals were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility where they are currently receiving treatment.

One witness recounted that he was in his shop when he observed the speeding vehicle and subsequently heard a loud crash. Upon investigation, he discovered several victims trapped beneath the SUV. "We extracted people from underneath the vehicle. The injured were in critical condition when they were transported to the hospital," the witness stated.

Following the accident, an outraged crowd pulled the driver from the vehicle and physically assaulted him before police arrived to arrest him and impound the vehicle.

Authorities are currently investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
