21-Year-Old Man Arrested After Police Intercept Ambulance Carrying 1,484 Bottles of Illegal Liquor from Haryana to Delhi

Police have registered a case under the Delhi Excise Act following the significant liquor seizure operation.

Authorities apprehended a 21-year-old man in Delhi's Dwarka area after a short pursuit, discovering a substantial amount of illegal alcohol in his possession, officials reported on Friday.

The suspect, Ritik from Haryana's Rohtak, was caught transporting illicit liquor using an ambulance along the Dwarka Expressway.

"The operation resulted in the recovery of 1,400 quarters and 84 bottles of liquor, specifically 70 bottles of Royal Stag and 14 bottles of Royal Green, each containing 750 ml. Authorities also confiscated the vehicle used for the illegal transportation," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh in an official release.

Investigations revealed that Ritik acquired the liquor from Bahadurgarh in Haryana before distributing it throughout Delhi and surrounding regions.

Acting on intelligence about interstate liquor smuggling, police had positioned surveillance teams at various border checkpoints.

According to police reports, on October 1 night, officers signaled Ritik to halt near Sai Mandir behind Dichao Bus Depot. When he attempted to flee, the team intercepted the ambulance and captured him after a brief pursuit.

During questioning, Ritik allegedly confessed to his involvement in sourcing and distributing illegal alcohol. Police reported that he had purchased the ambulance specifically for transporting illicit liquor and has no prior criminal history.

The seized contraband included 1,400 quarters of blue stock designated for Chandigarh markets and 84 bottles intended for sale in Haryana. The ambulance had been specially modified to transport the illegal merchandise.

Authorities have filed a case under the relevant provisions of the Delhi Excise Act.
