Intoxicated Relative Fatally Assaults 52-Year-Old Man in Sonbhadra Over Family Dispute

A 52-year-old man was beaten to death in Sonbhadra's Maldeva village when he attempted to intervene in a family dispute involving his intoxicated relative. The victim's wife was also injured in the attack, and police are currently searching for the accused who fled the scene after the fatal assault.

A tragic incident occurred in Maldeva village when a 52-year-old man was fatally beaten with a stick by an intoxicated relative, according to police reports released Friday.

The victim, Umesh Pathari, was heading to attend a "birha" folk program on Thursday night when the attack happened within the jurisdiction of Duddhi police station. Officials detailed that Umesh encountered his cousin sister's son-in-law, Dara Pathari from Belch village, who was harassing his mother-in-law while under the influence of alcohol.

Station House Officer (SHO) Swatantra Kumar Singh of Duddhi explained that when Umesh attempted to intervene and calm the situation, Dara became enraged and allegedly struck Umesh in the head with a stick, causing critical injuries.

Tara Devi, the victim's wife, rushed to defend her husband but was also attacked and injured during the altercation, according to Singh's statement.

Neighbors quickly transported the injured couple to the Community Health Centre in Duddhi. Tragically, Umesh succumbed to his injuries, while Tara Devi continues to receive medical treatment, the SHO added.

Police have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the accused, who fled the scene following the violent assault, officials confirmed.
