Woman Drowns 3 Children, Then Jumps Into Water Tank In Rajasthan

Police are conducting an investigation into the tragic incident that occurred in Rajasthan.

In a devastating incident on Thursday in Rajasthan's Balotra district, a woman allegedly drowned her three children in a water tank before taking her own life by jumping into the same tank, according to police reports.

The bodies of the 32-year-old woman and her three children were discovered early morning in a water tank near their residence situated on a farm close to Tapra village in the Jasol area.

According to preliminary investigations conducted by Siwana DSP Neeraj Sharma, Mamta had been residing with her family at their farm for harvesting purposes over the past ten days.

"Following dinner on Wednesday night, all family members went to sleep. Later, it appears Mamta took her three children—son Naveen (7), Rugaram (4), and daughter Manvi (6 months)—and jumped into the water tank," Sharma explained.

The following morning, Mamta's mother-in-law noticed her absence from the house and began searching for her. She discovered Mamta's slippers near the edge of the water tank. Upon looking inside, she saw the bodies floating in the water and immediately alerted villagers and the police.

A team from Jasol police station alongside the civil defence unit, with assistance from locals, recovered the four bodies from the tank. The bodies were subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.

Initial evidence suggests this may be a suicide, though police are still investigating to determine the cause behind the incident.

Police reports indicate that Mamta's husband, Andaram Patel, operates a medical shop in Bengaluru, which he established approximately five months ago. He has been informed about the tragic incident.

According to police, Mamta's father-in-law works at a factory in Balotra where he resides, while Mamta had been living with her children, mother-in-law, and grandmother-in-law in Tapra village.
