Politics Heats Up In Telangana After Cow Vigilante Allegedly Shot At By Cattle Smuggler

Hyderabad:
A violent attack on a cow vigilante near Hyderabad on Wednesday has triggered significant political tensions in Telangana. Prashant, also known as Sonu Singh, a cow protection group member, was reportedly shot by a cattle smuggler in Ghatkesar. Authorities identified the assailant as Ibrahim Chaudhary, a resident of Hyderabad.
According to sources, Chaudhary had contacted Singh claiming to have information about cattle movement in the area. When Singh arrived at a secluded location near the Pocharam IT Corridor, Chaudhary allegedly opened fire and escaped. Local residents, hearing the gunshot, rushed Singh to a private hospital with a bullet wound. Medical professionals reported this morning that his condition was stable and improving.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner DS Sudheer Babu visited the scene shortly after the shooting and is overseeing the investigation. Authorities have initiated a manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspect. Additional security forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace and prevent potential disturbances.
BJP representatives have claimed that Singh was shot while attempting to prevent illegal cow transportation and that the accused has connections to Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM party.
BJP State chief N Ramchander Rao and MP Etala Rajender visited Singh at the hospital. They have denounced the attack and called for strict action against those responsible.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Union MoS (Home) Bandi Sanjay Kumar also expressed their concerns regarding the shooting and demanded a prompt police investigation.
"This rowdyism of MIM under the patronage of Congress is most shameful and highly condemnable. Such blatantly violent acts in the capital city of Hyderabad completely expose the utter collapse of law and order and fuel insecurity among people," stated Reddy.
Kumar remarked that this incident demonstrates what happens when Congress protects MIM's "rowdyism," adding, "Let the anti-social elements remember that those who attack gau bhakts will face serious consequences."
The BJP has scheduled a meeting with Telangana DGP Shivdhar Reddy regarding the incident.
