Hyderabad:

Telangana's anti-narcotics division, EAGLE, announced Wednesday that it had collaborated with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ranchi Division, to intercept a lorry in Jharkhand, resulting in the seizure of 500 kg of ganja.

Following specific intelligence about a lorry transporting a significant ganja shipment during the night of October 20-21, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) team from Telangana's Khammam hurried to the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) region, according to an official statement.

The statement confirmed that the suspect vehicle departed from Malkangiri district, Odisha on the night of October 20, heading toward Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Although initially expected to pass through Telangana, the suspects altered their route to avoid heavily monitored areas. Upon discovering this change, the EAGLE team immediately redirected their pursuit and notified police stations along the route. However, interception attempts failed due to the vehicle's high speed, the statement explained.

The team continued their pursuit throughout the night, providing real-time location updates to superior officers, who coordinated with the NCB Ranchi Division, according to the statement.

Based on this intelligence, the joint operation team successfully intercepted the vehicle at Simdega, Jharkhand, seizing 500 kg of ganja and detaining one individual. The statement added that two receivers currently residing in Varanasi remain at large.
