Bhojpuri Actor Pawan Singh's Wife Jyoti Singh Files Independent Nomination for Bihar Assembly Election

Patna: Jyoti Singh, the spouse of renowned Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh, submitted her nomination papers as an Independent candidate today for the Karakat Assembly constituency. This development follows shortly after her husband announced his decision to abstain from the Bihar assembly election while maintaining his position as a "loyal supporter" of the BJP.

During Jyoti Singh's nomination filing, numerous local residents gathered to demonstrate their backing. Her father, Rambabu Singh, explained, "The residents of Karakat established a strong bond with Jyoti Singh when she participated in Pawan Singh's campaign during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections."

Her decision to enter the electoral race independently came after a meeting with election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, though specific details of their discussion remain undisclosed.

As Pawan Singh's second wife, Jyoti Singh had previously alleged him of marital unfaithfulness, leading to ongoing disputes between them. With the election approaching, the couple had been contesting over candidacy matters.

In an earlier conversation with NDTV, Jyoti Singh clarified, "If I choose to contest, that's my decision and is unrelated to Pawan Singh's electoral plans. I provided extensive support during his previous campaign, walking tirelessly throughout the constituency. Should I decide to run, I will. I've invested considerable effort, which the public acknowledges."

The BJP had previously removed Pawan Singh last year due to his controversial public image. However, he rejoined the party before the current elections.

There had been anticipations that he might receive a ticket for the Arrah assembly seat this year, particularly following multiple discussions with senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda.
