Hyderabad:
On Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the valor and courage displayed by Indian armed forces during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India's sovereignty remains unchallenged by any power.
The Defence Minister referenced a recent admission by a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander that terrorist Masood Azhar's family was "destroyed" during India's May 7 operation, which was conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
"A Jaish-e-Mohammed commander has acknowledged that during Operation Sindoor's Bahawalpur attack, the family of notorious terrorist Masood Azhar was eliminated. This demonstrates the exceptional bravery of our Indian Army soldiers. A video confirming this was released yesterday. Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India's strength has grown substantially. As a result, no power can dare challenge India's sovereignty," the Union Minister stated in Hyderabad.
Singh was speaking at an event commemorating the 78th anniversary of Hyderabad Liberation Day, which celebrates Hyderabad's integration into the Indian Union following Operation Polo that freed the city from the Nizam's rule.
During the ceremony, the Defence Minister unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, former Union Home Minister, who played a crucial role in integrating various territories and princely states with India after Independence.
Singh firmly rejected claims about third-party involvement in the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. He clarified that Operation Sindoor would resume if any further terrorist incidents occur.
"Some people suggest that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was established due to external interference. I want to clearly state that our counter-terrorism actions were not postponed because of any outside intervention. Operation Sindoor has merely been postponed. If any terrorist incident takes place, Operation Sindoor will resume. I confidently assure the entire nation that regarding the pause in operations between India and Pakistan, despite claims that we stopped it, no one forced us to do so," he emphasized.
In a recent AlJazeera interview, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar explicitly denied any third-party mediation in resolving bilateral issues with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, contradicting claims made by US President Donald Trump.
Dar mentioned that Islamabad raised the issue of third-party mediation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who responded that India opposes any outside involvement.
While the US president has repeatedly claimed participation in ceasefire negotiations, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar dismissed these assertions as "bizarre, if not unfair".
India has attributed the ceasefire to direct military-to-military discussions between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries.
