Power Bank Fire on IndiGo Flight at Delhi Airport: Quick Crew Response Ensures Passenger Safety

On Sunday, a passenger's power bank ignited aboard an IndiGo aircraft bound for Dimapur while taxiing at Delhi airport, with the cabin crew quickly extinguishing the flames, according to sources.
IndiGo confirmed that all passengers and crew remained unharmed during the incident.
The airline released a statement explaining that flight 6E 2107, operating from Delhi to Dimapur, Nagaland, on October 19, returned to the bay after a minor fire erupted from a passenger's personal electronic device stored in a seat-back pocket.
Sources revealed that the power bank caught fire while the aircraft was taxiing at the airport.
"The crew handled the situation efficiently by following standard operating procedures, and the incident was contained within seconds," the statement noted.
According to data from Flightradar24.com, flight AI2107, operated on an Airbus A320 neo, departed Delhi airport at 14:33 hours and arrived in Dimapur (Nagaland) at 16:45 hours. The flight had originally been scheduled to depart Delhi at 12:25 hours.
IndiGo stated that relevant authorities were promptly notified as per protocol, and the aircraft was cleared for operations after all necessary safety checks were completed.
"We appreciate our valued customers for maintaining calm and cooperation during this incident. Our teams made every effort to minimize inconvenience to passengers, including offering refreshments," the airline added.
The exact number of passengers on the flight was not disclosed.
Earlier this week, a lithium battery stored in the overhead compartment of an Air China aircraft caught fire during a flight from Hangzhou to Seoul, according to reports.
