UP Woman, Mother Of 2, Slits Wrist At Police Station As Nephew Ends Affair

A woman had been residing in Bareilly with her nephew for a period of seven months.

In a shocking incident at a police station in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman attempted self-harm by slitting her wrist after her nephew declared an end to their romantic relationship.

The woman, identified as Pooja Mishra, originally from Delhi, is married to Lalit Kumar Mishra and has two young sons aged seven and six. She began a relationship with Alok Mishra, her husband's nephew who is 15 years her junior, after he came to stay with the family to assist with household work. During this time, a romantic involvement developed between Pooja and Alok.

Upon discovering the affair, Lalit sent his nephew away from their home. However, Pooja made the decision to leave her children behind and relocate to Bareilly, where she and Alok lived together for approximately seven months.

Following a disagreement between the couple, Alok returned to his native village in Sitapur. Pooja followed him there, which led to both parties being called to the local police station in an attempt to mediate their dispute.

During the meeting at the police station, when Alok reportedly informed Pooja that he wished to terminate their relationship, she responded by producing a blade and slitting her wrist, causing alarm among everyone present.

Emergency medical attention was provided to Pooja, who was initially taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Lucknow in critical condition.
