Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a new legislative initiative in Telangana aimed at ensuring government employees care for their parents.
Hyderabad:
Telangana's government plans to implement legislation that would allow 10-15% of a government employee's salary to be deducted and transferred to their parents if the employee is found neglecting them, according to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's Saturday announcement.
While distributing appointment letters to newly selected group-II employees, Reddy emphasized the importance of compassion when dealing with citizens approaching government offices with concerns.
"We are introducing legislation whereby if government employees neglect their parents, 10 to 15 percent of their salary will be automatically deducted and deposited into their parents' bank accounts. You will participate in drafting this legislation. Just as you receive your monthly salary, we will ensure your parents also receive a portion of it," stated Reddy.
The Chief Minister has instructed Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to establish an official committee to draft this legislation.
Reddy further advised all newly appointed officers to contribute toward advancing the state in accordance with the 'Telangana Rising 2047' vision document.
During his address, the Chief Minister criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for failing to issue group-I and group-II job notifications during their decade-long administration of the state.
"The former BRS leadership formed their government based on sacrifices but neglected the unemployed population. Youth could have secured employment eight years earlier if the previous administration had focused on fulfilling the aspirations of Telangana's martyrs," he remarked.
Reddy alleged that the opposition tried to obstruct recruitment processes through court cases and social media campaigns.
He highlighted that the Congress government has successfully filled 60,000 positions during its first year in office.
The Chief Minister also cautioned that BRS leaders are attempting to manipulate public sentiment to regain power.
"Citizens should remain vigilant against political forces trying to return to power by exploiting emotions," Reddy warned.
