Violent Robbery in Bengaluru: Two Arrested After Severing Woman's Fingers During Gold Chain Theft

The police's special investigation team arrested two individuals following weeks of intensive search operations.
In Bengaluru, authorities have apprehended two suspects for robbing a woman and severing her fingers with a machete. Recently released CCTV footage captures the disturbing incident that occurred in September.
Police reports indicate that Usha and Varalakshmi were making their way home after attending a Ganesh festival orchestra on September 13. The suspects, identified as Praveen and Yogananda, approached the women on a motorcycle and attempted to steal their gold chains. While Usha surrendered her gold chain out of fear, Varalakshmi resisted the robbery. In response, Yogananda attacked her with a machete, cutting off two of her fingers.
The perpetrators immediately fled the scene with approximately 55 grams of gold jewelry.
Following an extensive investigation spanning several weeks, the police's special investigation team successfully captured both suspects.
During the investigation, authorities recovered 74 grams of stolen gold jewelry and the weapon used in the violent attack.
According to officials, Yogananda, one of the arrested individuals, traveled to Puducherry, Mumbai, and Goa before returning to his hometown of Marasinganahalli village in Karnataka after committing the crime. Authorities revealed that he has a previous criminal history, including involvement in a murder case.
