On Friday morning, an ambulance lost control after experiencing a tire burst, resulting in a tragic accident that claimed four lives, including a woman, in Sitapur district, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 6 am on the National Highway within the Ataria police station jurisdiction. The ambulance was transporting a patient from Uttarakhand to Varanasi when its tire suddenly burst.
Police officials stated that the ambulance struck three individuals, including a woman and a child, before overturning into a roadside ditch. The woman and three occupants of the ambulance died instantly at the scene.
Authorities have identified two of the deceased ambulance occupants as Vishal Pandey (40), the patient from Dehradun, and Gurmeet (42), the ambulance driver. An unidentified person was also traveling with them, police confirmed.
The 40-year-old female pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle remains unidentified. A 12-year-old girl and another man who sustained injuries in the accident were initially taken to the Ataria Community Health Centre (CHC) with assistance from local residents. Due to their critical condition, both were subsequently referred to Lucknow for advanced medical care.
