Drug Racket Busted In Delhi, Rs 32-Lakh Narcotics Seized, Peddler Arrested

New Delhi:

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a significant drug operation in the capital just before the festive season, confiscating 54,000 Tramadol tablets valued at approximately Rs 32 lakh. Authorities have apprehended Mohammad Abid, a 50-year-old drug peddler, while his accomplice remains at large.

Acting on specific intelligence, the Crime Branch executed a coordinated raid in Sarita Vihar, where they intercepted a drug shipment prepared for distribution throughout the capital. The confiscated Tramadol tablets - a regulated painkiller commonly abused as an intoxicant - were packaged for distribution in Delhi's illicit drug markets.

During questioning, Abid revealed that he had previously managed a small cattle feed enterprise before transitioning to drug trafficking in pursuit of rapid financial gains. His statements further implicated Mohammad Javed Khan, who allegedly coordinated the supply and distribution network.

Law enforcement subsequently conducted raids at Javed's properties in Jasola Vihar and Johri Farm, Jamia Nagar, but he successfully avoided capture and has gone into hiding. The Crime Branch has initiated an extensive search operation to locate him and identify other participants in this illegal enterprise.

Officials from the Crime Branch informed NDTV that had the seized drugs reached the market, they could have caused substantial harm to hundreds of users.

"The suspect was distributing narcotic tablets to local dealers. Investigations are continuing to determine the procurement source and other connections in the distribution chain," a senior officer stated.
