Mumbai: Members of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) physically assaulted a salon owner in Navi Mumbai following allegations that he had verbally abused a female employee. The incident was captured on video which has subsequently gone viral across social media platforms.
The female employee had reportedly been working at the Kamothe salon for several months without receiving her salary. After making multiple unsuccessful requests for payment, she sought assistance from local MNS workers regarding the situation.
In response, MNS workers arrived at the establishment and confronted the salon proprietor. The video footage, apparently recorded by one of the assailants, shows several men repeatedly slapping and punching the owner while he begs for mercy during the altercation.
According to police officials, no formal complaint has been registered regarding the incident. However, authorities have acknowledged the existence of the video and are currently working to verify its authenticity before proceeding further.
This incident adds to a series of assault cases involving MNS workers, particularly those concerning alleged disrespect toward Marathi culture and language by non-local residents.
In a separate incident earlier this week, an MNS worker was recorded slapping a woman at a railway station in Thane. The confrontation reportedly occurred after the woman allegedly used derogatory language against Marathi people during a minor dispute with her husband, according to party workers' claims.
