Gujarat Cabinet Expansion 2025: First Major Reshuffle Under CM Bhupendra Patel's Leadership

Gujarat is preparing for a significant cabinet expansion today, marking the first substantial reorganization since Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel assumed leadership. The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet with Governor Acharya Devvrat to present the list of new ministers, with the official swearing-in ceremony planned for 11:30 am at Mahatma Mandir.

The finalization of the cabinet lineup reportedly occurred after an extensive late-night meeting between BJP national president JP Nadda and Chief Minister Patel at the latter's residence. This strategic dinner discussion lasted more than two hours, following Nadda's arrival at the Gandhinagar Circuit House late Thursday evening. He was joined by Gujarat BJP chief Jagdish Vishwakarma and organization general secretary Ratnakar.

According to sources within the party, ministers selected for the cabinet will be notified of their appointments following the Chief Minister's consultation with the Governor. Later in the day, at 4:30 pm, the BJP will organize a special felicitation event for the newly appointed state president Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma at the Sabarmati riverfront.

The forthcoming cabinet is expected to be more expansive than the 2022 formation, which consisted of only 17 ministers—one of the smallest ministerial teams in Gujarat's recent political history.

With upcoming civic elections and the 2027 assembly polls in consideration, this cabinet reshuffle aims to enhance social and regional representation, particularly focusing on OBC and Patidar leaders, while ensuring stronger representation from the Saurashtra region.
