Entrepreneur Mandhira Kapur Smith shared a touching birthday tribute to her late brother, businessman Sunjay Kapur, on Wednesday, October 15. The occasion marked what would have been the 54th birthday of Sunjay, who tragically passed away in London during a polo match, sparking a subsequent legal battle over his estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate.
"Happy Birthday, my dearest Bhaiya," wrote Mandhira Smith, who serves as Managing Director of SMIC Autoparts Pvt Ltd, in her emotional Instagram post.
Mandhira Smith is one of Sunjay Kapur's two sisters along with Superna Motwane. A successful second-generation entrepreneur with multiple awards to her name, Mandhira has been married to Luke Smith since June 2023.
In her tribute, she shared a nostalgic sepia-toned family photograph featuring the siblings with their parents. Her message reflected deep affection: "This day wraps me in a thousand memories - childhood laughter echoing through our home, birthday candles flickering between us, and your mischievous grin that could melt any storm away. I still see you - that confident, charming boy who grew into a man so full of life, so full of love, so full of light."
She described her elder brother as "fearless, radiant, endlessly kind" and "always larger than life."

Mandhira continued: "You carried our family's name and legacy with quiet strength and unwavering pride. You took the torch our father lit and made its flame burn even brighter - lighting the path for all of us who follow."
She expressed that despite the quiet left by his absence, his presence continues through the love of those who knew him. The family remains committed to preserving his values of truth, loyalty, and grace, protecting his memory from anything that might tarnish it.
"We miss you more than words can ever say. But even in your absence, you and Dad remain our eternal guides - our light in the dark, our reminder of what it means to live with courage, honour, and love," she wrote.
Her tribute concluded with, "Your light will never fade, Bhaiya. You live on in our hearts, in our blood, and in every heartbeat of this family."
Sunjay Kapur died on June 12, aged 53, after suffering a heart attack during a polo match in the UK. Some reports suggest he swallowed a bee. Interestingly, a week following his death, Mandhira Smith revealed they hadn't spoken for four years due to differences over "egos."

Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay's third wife and former actor turned businesswoman, also honored her late husband's memory. Sharing an Instagram post with a quote from the Bhagavad Gita, she wrote, "Whatever action a great man performs, others follow... He who lives with purpose and love never perishes."
"My Sunjay, I know you are watching over me," she added.
These birthday tributes emerge amid an ongoing public legal dispute over Sunjay Kapur's vast estate, reportedly valued at Rs 30,000 crore. His children from his second marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, have challenged the will's authenticity, claiming it was forged to exclude them. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani has stated that the will favors Priya Sachdev Kapur while excluding Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur.
Sunjay Kapur's marital history included three marriages: first to Nandita Mahtani, then to Karisma Kapoor (2003-2016), and finally to Priya Sachdev Kapur in 2017, with whom he had a son, Azarius, now 6 years old.
