Chennai:

A tenth-grade student from Tamil Nadu's Madurai district has tragically died by suicide at his residence. According to investigators, the youth was a trained rifle shooter and is believed to have potentially used a firearm to take his own life.

A senior official from the Pudur Police Station confirmed the incident to NDTV, stating, "We have transferred the weapon used to the armoury. The investigation is currently ongoing."

Officials have not yet confirmed if the student used his sporting rifle in the incident.

Pudur Police investigators indicate that the student had reportedly shown diminished interest in his studies. Authorities are examining whether academic pressure or emotional distress may have been contributing factors.

Both parents of the deceased are employed in the private sector.

The boy's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, with further forensic analysis expected to determine the precise sequence of events leading to this tragedy.
