Teen Girl Gang-Raped In Front Of Boyfriend Near Puri Beach, 3 Arrested

Police apprehended three individuals for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old college student while her boyfriend was present near a beach in Odisha's Puri, authorities reported on Monday.
The assault occurred on Saturday when the victim and her boyfriend were sitting near the Baliharchandi temple. The perpetrators began recording the couple and demanded payment in exchange for deleting the footage, according to police.
When the couple refused to comply with the monetary demand, two members of the group allegedly sexually assaulted the young woman while their accomplices restrained her boyfriend by tying him to a tree.
The victim filed a police complaint on Monday evening after recovering from the trauma of the alleged assault, authorities stated. The three suspects, all local residents, have been taken into custody. Reports indicate they deleted the recorded videos prior to their arrest.
One additional suspect remains at large.
Odisha has experienced an increase in sexual assault incidents in recent months. Last Wednesday, a woman was allegedly assaulted by three men at a lodge in Bhubaneswar. The suspects, arrested Saturday, had lured the victim, who works as a singer, by promising a significant musical opportunity before taking her to a lodge and offering her a drink containing sedatives.
On September 5, a 14-year-old student traveling to her sister's village to witness a Ganesh idol immersion was allegedly assaulted by a 28-year-old man in Kandhamal.
The suspect, arrested five days after the incident, had offered the ninth-grade student transportation in his vehicle before allegedly assaulting her inside the car.
In August, a 10-year-old tribal girl was allegedly assaulted by a 20-year-old male from her community in Mayurbhanj. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
