New Delhi:

Intense outrage erupted across Delhi's South Asian University (SAU) campus late Monday following reports of a female student being allegedly sexually assaulted.

According to the victim's complaint, four individuals attempted to gang-rape her at a construction site on the university grounds on Sunday. She reported that the assailants tore her clothing and inappropriately touched her during the attack.

Senior police officer Ankit Chauhan confirmed that authorities received a call regarding the incident around 3 pm from someone acquainted with the survivor.

A close associate of the survivor revealed to NDTV that prior to this incident, she had been receiving anonymous emails and messages demanding sexual favors.

The perpetrators also allegedly used artificial intelligence technology to create morphed images of the victim.

Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals, including a security guard and others, with charges related to attempted gang rape. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from various campus locations to identify the perpetrators.
