Water Crisis At South Delhi's 2 Iconic Malls? What Authorities Said

New Delhi:

DLF, the prominent real estate developer, has issued a clarification regarding the operational status of its two prestigious south Delhi shopping destinations - DLF Promenade and DLF Emporio located in Vasant Kunj. The company firmly denied rumors suggesting potential closure of these malls during the festive season due to water supply challenges.

"Both malls are completely functional with sufficient water supply and have not experienced any disruptions that would require closure. While we acknowledge there were concerns about water supply in the Vasant Kunj area for a brief period, we want to emphasize that our facilities have implemented comprehensive contingency protocols," DLF stated in their official communication.

The company further emphasized that customer service remains their highest priority. "Our operational teams are working tirelessly and maintaining close coordination with relevant authorities to ensure seamless services, particularly as we are currently at the height of the festive shopping season," the statement continued.

Sources within the Delhi government revealed that the malls had claimed to be utilizing private water tankers for their supply needs, but investigations suggested they were actually extracting groundwater illegally. This prompted regulatory intervention resulting in temporary suspension of their water supply. The services were subsequently restored after the malls completed proper applications for legitimate water connections.
