New Delhi:

A woman from Manipur has died and a man sustained injuries following what appears to be a domestic dispute in southwest Delhi's Munirka area, according to police statements released Monday.

Authorities at the Kishangarh Police Station received a PCR call on Sunday regarding a quarrel between a husband and wife at a residence in Munirka Village.

The deceased woman has been identified as Thempi Khongsai, a Munirka Village resident originally from Senapati district in Manipur. She was employed as a beautician, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel.

The injured man has been identified as Thangjam Viney Meitei, who owns a grocery shop. Originally from Bishnupur in Manipur, he had been residing in Munirka Village.

Initial investigations revealed that the couple had been cohabiting for approximately three years. On Saturday, they engaged in an argument, prompting the woman to contact her father about the dispute. Her father subsequently alerted their landlady, whose daughter then made the emergency call to police.

DCP Goel stated that upon arrival, officers had to force entry through both the main door and bathroom door of the residence, which were locked from the inside.

Inside, police discovered the couple on the floor, both bleeding from neck injuries. A blood-stained knife was recovered from the scene.

The pair was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where the woman was pronounced dead. The man remains hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary evidence suggests that an argument between the two escalated to violence. The woman suffered a deep laceration to the back of her neck, resulting in significant blood loss that led to her death. The man also sustained neck injuries.

Police have confirmed that legal proceedings are in progress, and the complete sequence of events will be established once they are able to record the injured man's statement.

Ravinder, a neighbor interviewed by reporters, mentioned that he noticed several police vehicles and personnel in the area when returning from work around 9 pm.

"Later, we learned that two bodies had been discovered. They had been residing here for the past three to four years," he said.
