Union Minister Suresh Gopi Expresses Desire to Return to Acting Career Amid Political Duties

Union Minister Suresh Gopi has expressed his wish to return to the film industry, stating his intention to continue his acting career.

Speaking at an event in Kannur, the Thrissur MP and actor-turned-politician revealed that his financial situation has been significantly impacted since assuming his ministerial position. "I genuinely desire to continue acting. I need to increase my earnings; my income has completely ceased at present," he explained.

Gopi also mentioned that he is the youngest member in his party and suggested that Rajya Sabha MP C Sadanandan Master could be appointed as Union Minister in his place.

"I never sought to become a minister. One day before the elections, I informed reporters that I did not want a ministerial position, but rather wished to continue my career in cinema."

"I joined the party in October 2008... I was the first MP chosen by the people, and the party felt it necessary to appoint me as minister," stated the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Tourism.

Earlier this year, President Droupadi Murmu nominated BJP veteran from Kannur, Sadanandan Master, to the Rajya Sabha.

During his address at the Kannur event, Suresh Gopi also mentioned that many people have a tendency to distort and misinterpret his statements.

He highlighted how his use of the term "praja" to refer to the people of his constituency, Thrissur, had attracted criticism.

Drawing a parallel with how sanitation workers, previously called manual scavengers, are now referred to as sanitation engineers, the minister explained that his usage of terms like 'praja' and 'prajatantra' had been twisted by his opponents.

"What is wrong with using the word praja?" Gopi questioned.
