The husband of an MNS worker claimed that a woman grabbed his collar and physically assaulted him during an incident at a railway station.
In Mumbai, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) member physically struck a woman who had allegedly verbally abused her husband during a confrontation at a railway station in Thane, Maharashtra. The incident was captured on video and has since spread across social media platforms. In the footage, the MNS worker, identified as Swara Ghate, can be seen compelling the woman to issue an apology to Maharashtra residents while surrounded by several male members of Raj Thackeray's political organization.
According to accounts from party members, the incident began when the MNS worker's husband accidentally collided with the woman while exiting a crowded local train at Kalwa railway station during peak hours. Despite his immediate apology, the woman reportedly became enraged and verbally assaulted him. Party members allege she used insulting language specifically targeting Marathi people and physically struck the man.
The husband of the MNS worker stated that the woman seized his collar and physically attacked him during the altercation.
Infuriated by these actions, the man's wife, who is an MNS member, took the woman to the party's Kalwa office.
Footage from the office shows the woman offering an apology, stating: "Something happened to me today at Kalwa station. I hurt someone, a Maharashtrian man. I abused him, even raised my hand on him, for which I apologize to all of Maharashtra and the Maharashtrian people. Thank you."
Following this statement, Ghate slapped the woman and warned, "Never say it again to the people of Maharashtra. Did you understand? That's it!"
Ghate further commented, "A woman raises her hand on a man, and he does not say anything to her. Why does the law apply only to women? She kept abusing my husband for half an hour, but I didn't say anything to her. I was going to file a case against her, but looking at her daughter and her family, I'm letting her go."
NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule condemned the incident, remarking, "I request everyone that fighting and quarreling is not a good thing. The police should investigate. The country will not run like this. The country will run only as per the Constitution. The country will not run through fighting and quarreling."
