PM Modi Meets Anthropic CEO to Discuss AI Innovation and Expansion in India's Growing Tech Ecosystem

On October 8, Anthropic announced its plans to establish its first India office in Bengaluru.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, a company specializing in safe AI systems development. The company has revealed plans to open an office in Bengaluru in the coming year.

Following the meeting, PM Modi posted on X: "Glad to meet you. India's vibrant tech ecosystem and talented youth are driving AI innovation that is human-centric and responsible. We welcome Anthropic's expansion and look forward to working together to harness AI for growth across key sectors."

Earlier, Amodei shared details about his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, where they discussed Anthropic's expansion into India. He noted that the use of their product 'Claude Code' has seen a five-fold increase in India since June.

In his social media post, Amodei stated: "Today I met with PM @narendramodi to discuss Anthropic's expansion to India - where Claude Code use is up 5x since June. How India deploys AI across critical sectors like education, healthcare, and agriculture for over a billion people will be essential in shaping the future of AI."

Anthropic was founded by former OpenAI executives and is focused on developing what it describes as "safe" AI systems. Google is among the company's significant backers.

On October 8, Anthropic officially announced its plans to open its first office in India, located in Bengaluru.
