CRPF Head Constable Succumbs to Injuries After IED Blast During Anti-Maoist Operation in Jharkhand

A 45-year-old CRPF Head Constable from Assam has died after being critically injured by a pressure IED during counter-insurgency operations against Maoists in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The incident occurred during a security operation in the Babudera-Samta axis, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by paramilitary forces in Maoist-affected regions.

CRPF Constable Killed In IED Blast During Anti-Maoist Operation In Jharkhand

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable has lost his life following injuries sustained in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast while participating in counter-insurgency operations against Maoist rebels in Jharkhand, according to officials' statements on Saturday.

The anti-Maoist operation was conducted by CRPF forces in the violence-prone region of Babudera-Samta axis within the jurisdiction of Jaraikela police station in West Singhbhum district on Friday.

Head Constable Mahendra Laskar, aged 45, sustained critical injuries when he triggered a pressure-activated improvised explosive device during the security operation.

Officials reported that Laskar was immediately evacuated to a medical facility in Rourkela for treatment. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased CRPF personnel, who originated from Assam, was serving with the 60th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force at the time of the incident.
