India's Strong Rebuttal to Pakistan: Affirming J&K's Status and Highlighting Development Progress at UN

India's MP PP Chaudhary delivered a forceful response to Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly's Third Committee, firmly establishing that Jammu and Kashmir "remains an integral and inalienable part of India."

During his October 8 address, Chaudhary dismissed Pakistan's statements on Jammu and Kashmir as "baseless," suggesting they represented Islamabad's "habitual misuse" of UN forums to shift focus from their domestic issues including "rigged elections, jailing of opposition leaders, and violent suppression of protests."

In a particularly cutting remark, Chaudhary referenced Pakistan's own Army Chief's recent description of the country as a 'dump truck,' highlighting serious governance deficiencies within the nation.

Chaudhary showcased India's development achievements, noting that "over 250 million people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty" in recent years. He emphasized that nearly 800 million citizens now benefit from the Public Distribution System, with social security coverage extending to over 60 percent of the population.

The Indian representative highlighted women's empowerment as "a national mission," referencing the Women's Reservation Bill (2023) as a "landmark reform." He pointed to increasing female enrollment in higher education and women's workforce participation rising to 40.3 percent in 2024-25.

Youth development and technology-driven growth were also emphasized, with Chaudhary mentioning initiatives like MY Bharat, Skill India, PM-NAPS, and the YUVAi AI skilling program. He explained how digital inclusion had transformed governance, with Direct Benefit Transfers exceeding USD 500 billion and UPI revolutionizing financial accessibility.

Chaudhary highlighted India's Meri Panchayat App, winner of the WSIS 2025 Champion award, as demonstrating how technology is empowering more than 265,000 village councils across the country.

In his conclusion, Chaudhary reaffirmed India's commitment to achieving "Viksit Bharat - Developed India by 2047." Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, he stated that India "will stand as a trusted partner of the Global South and the United Nations-an enduring contrast to Pakistan's divisive approach."
