BJP MLA Attacks Party Worker in West Bengal Police Station Amid Sand Mafia Controversy

The escalating factionalism within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal's Purulia has become publicly evident. A significant controversy has emerged after BJP MLA Sudip Mukherjee was alleged to have assaulted a party worker inside the Purulia Sadar police station premises.

Social media platforms have been flooded with a viral video of the incident, sparking political turmoil throughout the district.

BJP worker Suraj Sharma recounted the complete incident, stating, "During late hours, I noticed a tractor overloaded with sand passing through the area. I halted the vehicle and promptly notified the Purulia Sadar police station. Law enforcement arrived and confiscated the tractor."

He continued, "Subsequently, I received a call to visit the police station for filing a formal complaint. Upon my arrival, Purulia BJP MLA Sudip Mukherjee appeared alongside the same sand mafia group. They forcibly removed me from the police station and began assaulting me. I'm fortunate to be alive. Currently, I'm receiving treatment at the hospital."

Suraj further mentioned that he has already notified party leadership about the incident. "The decision regarding further action now rests with the party," he added.

Following the assault, the video has spread widely online, intensifying discussions about internal conflicts and factional politics within the BJP's Purulia unit. Police have initiated an investigation, while senior BJP leaders have requested a comprehensive report.

According to local sources, internal rivalries and factional tensions have been simmering within the party's Purulia organization for some time, and this alarming incident appears to be the latest manifestation of the ongoing internal power struggle.
