Authorities have recovered over 1,000 photos and videos from a student who allegedly created AI-generated explicit content of female classmates.
In Chhattisgarh, a third-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student at the International Institute of Information Technology in Naya Raipur has been suspended following serious allegations. Thirty-six women students have filed complaints against him for using artificial intelligence to create inappropriate, morphed images of them.
College officials discovered the misconduct after receiving multiple complaints on Monday. The accused, who resides in Bilaspur, is now facing disciplinary action as investigators examine the extensive digital evidence found in his possession.
Professor Srinivas, the institute's Registrar, informed NDTV about the situation: "Some women students reported this issue on October 6. We immediately established an investigation committee and searched the accused student's room, confiscating his laptop, mobile phone, and pen drive."
The administration has formed a three-member committee consisting entirely of female staff members to conduct a thorough investigation. They are also interviewing parents of the affected students and implementing measures to prevent any personal information from being leaked.
According to college authorities, the student's electronic devices contained more than 1,000 photos and videos of female students. The institute is now working with cybersecurity experts to determine whether the explicit content was artificially generated and if any materials were shared beyond campus boundaries.
Ashish Rajput, who oversees the Rakhi Police Station, stated they are awaiting a formal written complaint before launching an official investigation. "We have discussed the matter with college management and are reviewing the facts. A formal investigation will commence once we receive a written complaint," Rajput explained.
The affected women students have called for severe penalties, and college authorities have promised both them and their families that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against the perpetrator.
