Kasaragod:
Police have apprehended nine individuals, including two government workers, in this district for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy after establishing contact with him through a mobile application designed for the LGBTQ community, authorities reported on Tuesday.
A senior district police official stated that the teenager was sexually assaulted by 14 different men over a period of two years at his residence and various other locations across Kannur and Kozhikode districts.
The abuse was discovered when the boy's mother encountered a man in their home who fled upon seeing her, according to police.
When questioned, her son revealed the ongoing abuse, which she then reported to the child line service, who subsequently informed law enforcement, the officer explained.
The officer further revealed that 14 separate cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, have been filed against the accused within the past two days based on the boy's statement.
Additionally, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising a DySP and four Inspectors has been formed to investigate eight cases related to incidents that occurred in Kasaragod district, the officer stated.
The remaining six cases have been transferred to authorities in Kozhikode and Kannur districts, where the boy was allegedly victimized, he added.
The 14 accused individuals range in age from 25 to 51 years, with one being employed by the Railways, police noted.
