Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya is set to participate in the upcoming NDTV World Summit during her first official visit to India next week. The 55-year-old South Asian leader will engage with global figures at this significant international event.
Scheduled for October 17th and 18th, the Summit represents a crucial platform for global dialogue on pressing contemporary issues.
In a video message, PM Amarasuriya expressed her enthusiasm: "I am looking forward to participating in the NDTV World Summit, where I will have the opportunity to engage with global leaders and thinkers. I hope to share Sri Lanka's perspectives on international cooperation and economic resilience. And to contribute to meaningful conversations on the pressing challenges of our region and the world."
The 2025 edition carries the theme 'Edge of the Unknown: Risk. Resolve. Renewal' - challenging participants to approach uncertainty with creativity, to view resolve as intentional action rather than reaction, and to embrace renewal as creating new futures rather than returning to past paradigms.
"This will be my first official visit to India as a Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka, as you know, are bound together by history, culture and shared values. Our relationship is one of great depth and importance and I look forward to using this opportunity to strengthen our cooperation in every sphere, such as trade, investment, education, development and beyond," the Lankan Prime Minister stated.
She further emphasized her desire to present Sri Lanka's viewpoints on international cooperation and economic resilience, while contributing to meaningful discussions about regional and global challenges.
The summit will be headlined by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other distinguished participants include former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
The event will also feature an impressive assembly of leaders, business strategists, innovators, cultural figures, and thought leaders joining in the dialogue.
