Amit Shah Migrates from Gmail to Zoho Mail: Leading India's Digital Self-Reliance Movement

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has officially switched from Gmail to indigenous Zoho Mail, following IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's lead. This transition reflects the government's commitment to 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' as more officials abandon foreign platforms for Chennai-based Sridhar Vembu's homegrown software solutions, signaling India's push toward digital sovereignty.

Amit Shah Switches Email Account From Gmail To Zoho Mail

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recently transitioned to Zoho Mail, abandoning the widely-used Gmail service. This shift reflects a growing trend among Indian government officials embracing homegrown digital solutions.

Shah announced this change through his social media platform X, stating: "Hello everyone, I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address. My new email address is amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in. For future correspondence via mail, kindly use this address."

This move follows Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's recent adoption of Zoho services. Vaishnaw endorsed Zoho as an excellent platform for document sharing, spreadsheets, and presentations, referring to it as "our own Swadeshi platform."

Zoho, an indigenously developed technology company, is making significant strides in the global software landscape. It aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'atmanirbharata' (self-reliance) across all sectors.

The Education Ministry has also directed its officials to utilize the Zoho Office Suite for all document-related official tasks. This directive specifically encourages officials to transition from global services like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace to Zoho's alternatives: Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, and Zoho Show.

The ministry's circular emphasized that officials should familiarize themselves with this new platform, with dedicated technical support available through NIC's CMIS division.

Chennai-based entrepreneur Sridhar Vembu is the developer behind Zoho's innovative software solutions, which are rapidly gaining acceptance among Indian netizens and government officials alike.

This transition by high-ranking government officials signals India's serious commitment to digital self-reliance and the promotion of homegrown technology solutions.
