Fatal Hit-and-Run: Speeding Thar Kills Delhi Fire Officer in Dwarka Accident

A 45-year-old fire officer, Ashish Sharma, was killed in a hit-and-run accident when a speeding Mahindra Thar struck his motorcycle in Delhi's Dwarka Sector-7. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the severely damaged vehicle. Police have seized the Thar while the investigation continues into this latest in a series of tragic road accidents involving the SUV.

A speeding Thar collided with a motorcyclist before fleeing the scene, leaving the injured person to die. The incident occurred during the night between October 6 and 7 in West Delhi as the victim was heading home.

Ashish Sharma, 45, was on his way home from work in Shalimar Bagh when a speeding vehicle struck his bike in Delhi's Dwarka Sector-7. Reports indicate the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene.

While no CCTV footage of the accident is currently available, images show significant damage to both vehicles. The Mahindra Thar sustained extensive damage to its front bumper and bonnet. The windshield on the driver's side shattered completely with a large hole on the right side.

The Bajaj Platina motorcycle was found lying flat on the ground with its front tire flattened against a fence, indicating it crashed into the barrier after impact.

Authorities have impounded the Thar as part of their investigation.

Sharma worked as a fire officer at a private company where he worked various shifts. Following a post-mortem examination at Deendayal Hospital, his remains were released to his family on Tuesday evening.

In a similar incident last month, a speeding Thar caused the deaths of five people and injured one after losing control and crashing into a divider on the National Highway in Gurugram. Officials reported that the group of six individuals—three men and three women—had traveled to Gurugram from Uttar Pradesh for business purposes.

When the driver of the high-speed SUV lost control, the vehicle crashed into a divider. Four people died immediately at the scene, while the remaining two were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one subsequently died from injuries.
