The Hindon Air Force Station hosted the 93rd Indian Air Force Day celebrations on Wednesday, commemorating the courage and commitment of the air force personnel who protect India's airspace.
This year's event featured a special recognition of Operation Sindoor, a significant milestone in the IAF's history.
The Indian Air Force officially shared updates of the celebration through their social media channels.
Established on October 8, 1932, initially as an auxiliary air force during British colonial rule, the IAF has since transformed into one of the world's most powerful air forces. Its core responsibilities include securing Indian airspace and conducting aerial warfare operations during conflicts.
The celebration was attended by prominent military leadership including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi at the Hindon Airbase.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh conducted an inspection of the ceremonial parade, organized to honor the defenders of India's skies and recognize their valor during Operation Sindoor.
The operation, conducted in May 2025, demonstrated the Air Force's swift deployment capabilities as part of India's military response following the Pahalgam attack.
Air force personnel performed an impressive march past alongside fighter aircraft displayed on the tarmac, showcasing the might and accuracy of India's aerial capabilities to onlookers.
In his Special Order of the Day, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh stated, "As we commemorate this day, we pay tribute to the valour, dedication and unwavering spirit of the Indian Air Force in safeguarding our nation's skies."
He further noted, "The world is witnessing a significant geopolitical shift, and recent conflicts have clearly underscored the decisive role of air power in achieving national objectives. Through Operation Sindoor, we reaffirmed the primacy of air power in shaping military outcomes."
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, was a precisely executed, intelligence-driven punitive strike carried out by Indian armed forces responding to the Pahalgam attack.
The operation targeted nine verified terrorist facilities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and deeper within Pakistan territory.
The IAF executed coordinated strikes against strategic targets, including the Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan air bases, utilizing advanced indigenous platforms and leveraging the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) for real-time, multi-domain coordination—demonstrating India's advancing technological and strategic advantage in contemporary warfare.
