Bihar Deputy CM Compares Lalu Prasad Yadav to Dhritarashtra Over Political Support for Son Tejashwi

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha draws a Mahabharata parallel, claiming RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav has become like the blind king Dhritarashtra due to excessive support for his son Tejashwi Yadav amid upcoming Bihar elections. The BJP leader accuses the veteran politician of maligning Bihar to maintain political relevance while responding to Lalu's recent criticism of the NDA.

New Delhi:

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Sinha has drawn a parallel from the Mahabharata, claiming that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) founder Lalu Prasad Yadav has become like "Dhritarashtra" due to his excessive affection for his son and party leader Tejashwi Yadav.

In the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata, Dhritarashtra was the blind king of Hastinapur who fathered the 100 Kauravas, including Duryodhana. The Dhritarashtra reference is commonly used to describe fathers who show blind support for their children's actions regardless of consequences.

Sinha remarked, "Lalu Yadav is approaching the final phase of his life, yet his love for his son has transformed him into Dhritarashtra. In an attempt to maintain his political relevance, Lalu Yadav continuously maligns Bihar and makes unfounded statements."

This criticism follows the veteran politician's recent jab at the NDA after the Election Commission announced Bihar's polling dates. Referring to the November 6 and November 11 polling schedule, the RJD founder posted on X: "6 aur 11, NDA nau do gyarah" - implying that the NDA would "flee" after these polling dates.

This isn't the first instance where the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister has employed the Dhritarashtra comparison against Lalu Yadav. Previously, when Lalu Yadav alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted "victory in Bihar" but would allocate "factories to Gujarat," Sinha had responded sharply.

"Those responsible for forcing Biharis to migrate and devastating Bihar are now in their twilight years. Like Dhritarashtra, blinded by affection for his sons, they are again attempting to create turmoil in Bihar and disrupt social harmony to ruin the state. However, the people of Bihar will no longer tolerate such behavior," Sinha had stated on that occasion.
