The undertrial prisoner was seen wearing an apple garland during the celebration.

A viral video showing an undertrial prisoner, identified as Srinivasa, also known as Gubbachhi Seena, celebrating his birthday inside Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara central jail has triggered a police investigation. The 'rowdy-sheeter' was captured cutting a five-layered cake while fellow inmates clapped and whistled in the 50-second clip.

The footage, reportedly recorded by another inmate, shows Seena wearing a distinctive garland made from apples during the celebration. This incident has raised significant concerns regarding prison supervision and violations of facility regulations.

Police authorities are investigating not only the birthday celebration but also how the video was recorded, as mobile phones are strictly prohibited under prison rules.

According to police reports, Seena is facing charges for the murder of his rival Venkatesha in Bengaluru's Dodda Bommasandra in January this year. During his arrest in February, he was shot in the leg by police while attempting to escape.

The incident drew sharp criticism from former IPS officer Bhaskar Rao, who shared the video on social media platform X. In his post, Rao criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government, stating: "Parappana Agrahara Jail is in news again. A massive cake enters the jail, and a rowdy with all his incarcerated mini rowdies celebrates his birthday with total impunity, and the same is recorded and uploaded on social media."

Rao further commented on broader governance issues, mentioning: "Governance has gone to pits, Contractors are now publicly crying about corruption. Youths are on the streets to demand filling vacancies, Bengaluru administration is at its worst with potholes and garbage, four Congress MLAs are in jail."

In his social media criticism, Rao alleged a "collapse of law and order" and directed his comments toward Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, lamenting that "such a huge public mandate is wasted."
