Karnataka Lokayukta Arrests Energy Minister's OSD in Rs 1 Lakh Bribery Case for Electricity NOC

Jyothi Prakash, who serves as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Karnataka Energy Minister, has been apprehended by the Karnataka Lokayukta for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The bribe was reportedly demanded in exchange for providing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for electricity connection to a builder.
The authorities have identified the suspects as 50-year-old Jyothi Prakash, who holds the position of Executive Engineer at KPTCL and serves as OSD to the Energy Minister, along with 34-year-old Naveen M, employed as a car driver.
This enforcement action stemmed from a complaint submitted by Anantharaju KM, a resident of Byadarahalli in Kempegowda Nagar. According to the complaint, officials had demanded a bribe amounting to Rs 1 lakh from the complainant for issuing an NOC to DR Developers for electricity sanction approval.
The Lokayukta team successfully caught the two accused individuals while they were in the process of accepting Rs 50,000.
Legal proceedings have been initiated with a case registered under Sections 7(a) and 7(A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment Act, 2018).
Both accused individuals have been placed under arrest following the operation.
