Woman's Rickshaw Trip Turns 'Terrifying' After Driver Crosses Boundaries: 'Left Me Shaken'

A standard Uber journey transformed into a frightening experience for a woman when the driver allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior, leading her to document the incident in a Reddit post that has since gone viral. The woman had booked a brief Uber rickshaw ride to visit a relative nearby when the driver's conversation began making her uncomfortable.

"Yesterday, around 8 pm, I booked an Uber rickshaw to travel to a relative's home approximately 1-2 km from my residence. Initially, the driver had difficulty locating me, so he called. After providing directions, I entered the vehicle and we departed," the woman explained in the r/india subreddit.

"I was surprised by his fluent English - uncommon for rickshaw drivers in this area. I assumed he might be working this job part-time, so I maintained polite conversation throughout the journey."

Growing increasingly uncomfortable, the woman began recording the driver and sent footage to a friend. When they reached her destination, the driver called her back, asking if she could spare two minutes.

"I mentioned I was in a hurry but paused briefly, thinking he might need directions or have a work-related question. Instead, he began asking very personal questions," she recounted, noting that the driver claimed to be 25 and "seeking guidance."

He suggested she save his contact under a female name to avoid family detection. According to her account, he proceeded to compliment her appearance and hairstyle, referring to her as "his age" while showing his phone contacts and lamenting his lack of friends.

The woman described feeling "terrified" as night was falling and the location was deserted. She froze momentarily before managing to extract herself from the situation. Upon reaching her relative's home, she immediately reported the incident to Uber.

"Honestly, there appears to be no significant action taken against him. This makes me increasingly uncomfortable because if he behaved this way once, he could easily do so with someone else," she wrote.

"I remain shaken thinking about how effortlessly he transitioned from 'polite' to invasive and unsettling."

'He tried to manipulate you'As the post gained traction online, social media users expressed sympathy for the woman while urging her to take action against the driver.

"Report it to authorities, drag the Uber too. Then they will take action. Hoping for peace in your life," one user commented, while another added: "He tried his best to manipulate you into something. You should inform your family and take legal action."

Another user remarked: "That sounds like a mental freak on the loose. It's a pity that companies like Uber give two hoots about serious complaints like this."
