Truck Driver Kidnaps Mentally Challenged Woman in Odisha: Brazen Abduction Captured on CCTV

A mentally challenged woman was kidnapped by a truck driver from a building alongside a highway in Odisha.

This disturbing nighttime incident was captured on CCTV footage, causing public outrage due to the bold manner of the kidnapping - occurring under bright streetlights with passing vehicles - where the driver approached the woman and forcibly restrained her against a pillar.

Police officials stated today that they are actively searching for both the truck driver and the mentally challenged woman who was abducted on Thursday night.

Surveillance footage showed the woman standing on the verandah of a roadside shop along National Highway-16 in Bhadrak Town.

As she waited on the verandah, a truck slowed near the location but initially continued driving. Moments later, the vehicle reversed and stopped directly in front of the shop. When the driver exited his vehicle, the woman appeared to sense danger, quickly gathered her belongings from a single bag, and attempted to move away from the exposed side of the shop.

The driver approached in an erratic pattern before temporarily disappearing from camera view, only to reappear from the side of the building. He rushed toward the woman as she screamed in protest. The assailant overpowered her, pinning her against a pillar and pausing briefly as vehicle headlights passed by on the highway.

He then abducted her from the scene.

Police have initiated an extensive search operation in the area. Investigators are examining highway surveillance recordings and transportation records for potential evidence, according to local reports, which suggest that identifying and locating the driver should not be particularly challenging or time-consuming.
