Two Indian nationals from Nagpur have died in a tragic accident near Grosseto, Italy, with several family members injured. The Indian Embassy is providing assistance to the affected families while Italian authorities investigate the collision between a van and a minibus carrying Asian tourists that resulted in three fatalities and five injuries, including two children.

The Indian Embassy in Italy confirmed on Friday that two Indian nationals from Nagpur have lost their lives in an accident near Grosseto, Italy. Embassy officials are maintaining communication with both the bereaved family and local Italian authorities to provide necessary assistance.

"The Embassy conveys its heartfelt and sincere condolences for the tragic loss of two Indian nationals from Nagpur in an accident near Grosseto," stated the Indian Embassy in Italy in a post on X platform.

"Our prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured family members who are undergoing treatment. The Embassy is in contact with the family and local Italian authorities. We are providing all assistance to the family," the statement continued.

The Embassy's announcement follows reports of an accident that claimed three lives and left five others injured, including two children, some with serious injuries. According to 'Italien.News,' the collision between a van and a nine-seater minibus carrying tourists of Asian origin occurred shortly before 9 am local time on Thursday. Authorities confirmed that three individuals died immediately at the scene.

"For three of the occupants, all help came too late; according to the authorities, they died at the scene of the accident," reported the news portal.

In response to the accident, emergency services launched a comprehensive rescue operation. Two fire department teams, supported by an incident commander, worked to free the injured passengers from the wrecked vehicles before transferring them to medical personnel. Due to the severity of injuries, two rescue helicopters were deployed. Of the five injured survivors, two were transported to Siena hospital, one to Careggi hospital in Florence, and two others to the local hospital in Grosseto.

The accident scene was attended by emergency services, traffic police, carabinieri, and technicians from the road management company ANAS, who worked to manage traffic and begin reconstructing the sequence of events. Authorities are currently conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of this tragic accident.
