Air India Relocates 60 Domestic Flights to Delhi's Terminal 2 from October 26 as Part of Airport Expansion

Air India will relocate 60 domestic flights to Delhi Airport's Terminal 2 starting October 26, 2025, while Air India Express moves its domestic operations to Terminal 1. The change is necessitated by Terminal 3 expansion work by DIAL to increase international capacity. Special flight numbering will help passengers identify terminal locations, with inter-terminal transfer services available for connecting travelers.

Air India To Move 60 Domestic Flights To Delhi's Upgraded T2 From Oct 26

Air India will be relocating 60 of its 180 domestic flights to the upgraded Terminal 2 at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport starting October 26. Concurrently, Air India Express will transfer all its domestic operations to the newly renovated Terminal 1 (T1).

This strategic relocation is necessitated by the ongoing expansion work at Terminal 3 (T3) being conducted by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL). These enhancements aim to increase international passenger capacity at the airport.

According to an official statement from the airline, "The terminal enlargement works will reduce domestic capacity at T3, necessitating the relocation of certain domestic operations of Air India and Air India Express, effective 26 October 2025."

All international flights operated by both Air India and Air India Express will maintain their operations from Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport.

For passenger convenience, Air India has implemented a clear identification system for flights operating from Terminal 2. Domestic flights departing from or arriving at T2 have been assigned four-digit numbers beginning with '1' (such as AI1737, AI1787). This distinctive numbering scheme enables travelers to easily identify the terminal for their flights.

The airlines are also providing comprehensive connectivity solutions for passengers with connecting flights. Travelers with boarding passes for onward journeys will have access to inter-terminal transfer services between T1, T2, and T3. This facility applies to connections between Air India flights, Air India Express flights, and eligible codeshare connections.

Air India and Air India Express have committed to notifying all passengers affected by the terminal changes through their registered contact information. Additionally, the statement noted, "Passengers whose bookings continue to operate to/from T3 will receive a reminder to check their terminal if they have connecting flights. All passengers checking in online for AI1XXX-series flights will receive an additional reminder that their flight departs from T2."

This terminal relocation represents part of Delhi Airport's broader expansion strategy to enhance capacity and improve passenger experience across its terminals.
