Bengaluru:

A sinister plot unfolded in Karnataka's Hospet where a gang of six individuals murdered a partially paralysed man to fraudulently claim his life insurance worth Rs 5.2 crore. The perpetrators killed 34-year-old Gangadhar, then elaborately staged his death as a traffic accident by placing his body on a two-wheeler and deliberately crashing a car into it. Most shockingly, one female gang member impersonated the deceased's wife to file the insurance claim.

According to police reports, the gang meticulously targeted Gangadhar, a Kaulpet resident, after discovering his substantial life insurance policy. Following the murder, they transported his body to the city outskirts where they orchestrated the fake accident scene to deceive insurance investigators.

Vijayanagara Superintendent of Police S Jahnavi detailed the investigation: "On September 28, we received an early morning call at 5:30 am reporting a hit-and-run incident on Sandur Road. After following standard procedures at the scene, we identified the victim and subsequently contacted his wife, Sharadamma, who came to the station to file a complaint."

The officer noted that Sharadamma revealed crucial information – Gangadhar had suffered a stroke three years prior that left him partially paralyzed on his left side. "The fact that Gangadhar didn't even own a two-wheeler immediately raised suspicions about the alleged accident," the officer explained.

Law enforcement officials successfully solved the case within just 24 hours, arresting all six gang members including Huligemma, who had falsely presented herself as Gangadhar's wife. Police have seized both vehicles used in staging the fraudulent accident.
