Aadhaar Update Charges Hiked: Check Services And How Much You Need To Pay

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented a revised fee structure for Aadhaar card information updates, resulting in increased costs for residents seeking to modify demographic, biometric, and document details.

This new fee structure became effective on October 1, 2025, and will remain in place until September 30, 2028. UIDAI plans to review these charges again in October 2028.

Under the updated pricing, demographic changes including name, address, date of birth, mobile number, and email now cost Rs 75, up from the previous Rs 50 when processed individually. However, there's no additional fee when combined with biometric updates.

Biometric updates, which include fingerprint, iris scan, or photo modifications, now cost Rs 125 and will increase further to Rs 150 from October 2028.

For document updates related to proof of identity or address, services remain free on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. At physical enrolment centers, the fee has increased to Rs 75 from Rs 50.

Aadhaar printouts via eKYC or other tools will cost Rs 40 during the initial phase, increasing to Rs 50 in the second phase.

UIDAI has maintained certain exemptions, particularly for children's biometric updates. The first mandatory biometric update remains free for children aged 5-7 and 15-17 years. For children aged 7-15 years, while biometric updates typically cost Rs 125, this fee has been waived until September 30, 2026.

Home enrolment services for residents unable to visit centers now cost Rs 700 (including GST). For multiple residents at the same address using this service, each additional person will pay Rs 350.

These changes mean that most Aadhaar holders will now incur higher costs to maintain updated information, though children's updates at specific age milestones remain free under the revised structure.
