Bengaluru:
A disturbing case of alleged marital abuse has emerged from Puttenahalli, Karnataka, where a woman has lodged a formal complaint against her husband and in-laws, detailing serious accusations of harassment, blackmail, and exploitation.
The complainant stated that she married Syed Inamul Haq in December 2024, approximately two months following their engagement ceremony.
During the marriage proceedings, the bride's family provided 340 grams of gold ornaments and a Yamaha motorcycle as part of the traditional wedding arrangements.
Shortly after their marriage, the woman made the troubling discovery that her husband had previously been married.
According to her complaint, he openly admitted that she was his second wife and allegedly bragged about maintaining relationships with 19 other women.
The complaint further alleges that the husband covertly installed recording equipment in their bedroom, capturing their intimate moments, which he subsequently shared with his associates residing overseas.
Most disturbingly, he reportedly pressured her to engage in physical relations with his foreign contacts. When she refused these demands, he threatened to publish her private recordings on social media platforms.
The woman additionally reported experiencing consistent physical and psychological abuse in various locations including public spaces, hotels, and even at her parents' home. In one particular incident, she claimed he demanded she sell her gold jewelry to purchase property and became violent when she declined.
The in-laws were also implicated in the complaint. During a family gathering in February, the husband's sister allegedly subjected the complainant to humiliation, while her brother-in-law reportedly engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior toward her.
On September 21, following an altercation during which the accused allegedly assaulted the complainant, he fled the residence.
Authorities have registered a case against the husband and the implicated family members.
Police officials have confirmed that the primary accused remains at large.
